Nurses's Corner

Attention New Horizon Families:

Due to the significant increase of circulating Flu, Covid, and RSV statewide, we are issuing an urgent reminder to our families of the importance of monitoring their child’s health and symptoms of potential illness. Hospitalization rates in kids are among the highest seen in about a decade, and the number of school nursing office visits related to these illnesses is cause for extreme concern.  Together, we can prevent the spread of these viruses, and potentially serious complications by following STRICT adherence to the following:

Symptoms to Stay Home School:

  • Fever (100.0 F and above) or feeling feverish/chills
  • Cough
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Headache

If your child is displaying any of these symptoms, you should keep your child at home and monitor closely.  If you have questions, feel free to reach out to your pediatrician or our school nurses.  We need your help to keep our students and staff safe so that we may all enjoy a safe, healthy, and happy holiday. Thank you for your cooperation.
